This is one of those paintings that evolved over time. It began with a slow and deliberate application of antique pages from a dictionary. The man at center is indeed my take on Thomas Mann, as I had finally read Magic Mountain and was bewitched. The German shepherds and the Siamese cat came to join him; I have no idea if Mr. Mann had a dog or a cat! Large scale and extremely colorful - and fun.
