This painting is just fun. If you follow my work then you know the fox is my muse; painted wearing a feathered hat, a ruffled collar, sometimes a hacking jacket.
This painting was inspired by mornings out hunting, watching the fox run the hounds in circles only to "go to ground" and not appear again.
What does that little fox do when he goes to ground at the end of day being chased? I like to think maybe this...
Down in the hole we find Mister Fox and some of his cronies in their breakfast tweeds, celebrating another good run. Look closely and find the assortment of shiny treasures they have found and collected, including one huntsman's horn.
Our huntsman is Lincoln Sadler and he did have occasion to lose his horn one day out hunting; hence the aka "Lincoln's Horn".
Whatever the title is, this one makes you smile.
